Following the broadcast of the second episode of our acclaimed series Miners' Strike 1984: The Battle for Britain, there have been a wave of renewed calls for a full public inquiry into the events of the 'Battle of Orgreave'.
Our documentary featured previously unseen footage of the events at Orgreave, filmed by NUM officials Keith Brookes and Martin Harvey, revealing the extent of police brutality on the day, as well as evidence from three miners - Arthur Critchlow, Ernie Barber and Stef Wysocki - who were wrongly arrested and charged with riot, an offence which carried a potential life sentence. The men, along with fifty-two others, were acquited when their trial collapsed amid evidence of police corruption and falsified statements.
